Turning for components with rotational geometry
CNC turning works on surfaces organized around the workpiece axis. Drawing review needs to identify diameters, lengths, supports and the relationships between functional surfaces, rather than treating each dimension in isolation.
CoreMesh provides turning within its CNC machining service, covering individual replacements and short runs. Share how your component works as well as its overall dimensions.
What we review before defining the turning route
- Overall diameter and length, and areas available for workholding.
- Functional diameters and the mating component.
- Drawing references, concentricity or eccentricity requirements and specified finish.
- Material, quantity and complementary operations.
These inputs support feasibility review. Permissible size, achievable tolerances and lead time are confirmed for the actual geometry and setup.
Recover the function of a worn replacement part
When a component no longer fits or is discontinued, copying the worn region is insufficient. Explain how it operates and provide information about mating parts when available.
Reverse engineering can rebuild CAD before machining. 3D scanning may support measurement depending on sample condition and geometry.
Metals and engineering plastics
The CNC service covers steels, aluminum, brass, copper and engineering plastics. Specify material grade, operating conditions and expected finish. Selection and manufacturing feasibility are confirmed before production.
If the original material is unknown, describe loads, contact surfaces and the working environment to support engineering review.
Components that also require milling
A turned part may include faces or other geometry requiring additional operations. CNC milling complements turning where needed; the drawing determines the sequence, without assuming every operation uses one setup.
For dimensional inspection, identify the reference surfaces and functional dimensions to document.
What to send for a machining quote
Send your drawing, CAD model, photograph or a description through WhatsApp. If you only have a physical sample, contact us to arrange its review. File compatibility and the delivery method are confirmed with engineering.
- Material or operating conditions, overall dimensions and quantity.
- Critical dimensions, fits, surface requirements and drawing revision, when available.
- Required date, delivery location and whether an existing part is worn or damaged.
- Inspection requirements and the dimensional report you need.
The manufacturing route, achievable tolerances and lead time are confirmed after reviewing your project.
